Feature and Follow Friday #4

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read

I’m participating in this blog hop! See the rules here. Follow me however you wish! And if you do, be sure to stop by this post and say hi! Let me know you followed me and I’ll follow you! Isn’t it marvelous how that works?

Question of the Week: Pick a book in your favorite genre that you’d recommend to a reluctant reader.

Well. I can’t say I have a specific FAVORITE genre. Although just from looking at my blog, you might assume it was Middle Grade anything. So the two series’ I have today to recommend are both Middle Grade.

#1: Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney
These books are pure comedic genius. I am a lot older than their target age range but I never fail to enjoy reading them. I can turn to literally any page in any book and dissolve into massive fits of laughter. The drawings are funny, the ideas are funny, it’s just perfect. So, actually, whether you’re a reluctant reader or not, I would recommend you read these at least once in your life. At least the first book. Just give it a shot. It’s funny. Really.
#2: Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan
These books are extremely epic. Not only are they based on Greek mythology, a subject I happen to love and know a lot about, but they are written in a modern funny captivating way. It’s a wonderful series, impossible to put down, and there is a sequel series, Heroes of Olympus, and a series about Egyptian mythology (which I didn’t enjoy as much), Kane Chronicles.
So what are your recommendations? Have you read either of these series’? Share!

Yikes, I’m ashamed to say that The Lightning Thief is still sitting on my bookshelf untouched… I don’t know how that happened, I love mythology and I really want to get into the series. I have to try and read it during my holiday break!

I’m a die hard fan of PJO and THOO. I can’t wait for The Blood of Olympus to come out. And this post reminds me to finish the Diary of the Wimpy Kid as soon as possible. I only got to read the first book in the series.
