Main Points
Writing Style:
Pretty good, but there were a few errors.
Plot:
This story covers a very serious and controversial issue- well, perhaps more than one. It hints at a possible afterlife- Heaven/Hell and a sort of in-between. It also covers the death penalty.
It’s a short story, but a poignant one. What makes it even more so is that fact that it’s told from the POV of a child. This offers a view of these issues we don’t really get to see- I mean, not only because kids this young wouldn’t write (at least not about these experiences) but because it’s difficult to write from the view of a child. So that was pretty good.
I feel like it generally did a good job with these themes. It’s not impartial but it’s not particularly offensive either. And those who like justice would probably be satisfied. I find it hard to form any opinions on it myself. I do like it though, very much. It’s a very neat and fair possibility, even if it doesn’t sit entirely with my beliefs.
