Dear Hermione: BE MY BESTIE

Posted November 27, 2015 in Event, letters to characters / 14 Comments

Welcome to my second post for my friend Jillie’s Blogger Positivity Campaign! This week we’re writing letters to fictional characters, authors, ships (OTPs, not like the Titanic), or books that have helped or inspired us.

Dear Hermione,

Do I even need to say I’m a huge fan? The Harry Potter series is life. But of course, you’re more than just a character. You’re a person. And not just an Emma Watson person either. A living, breathing person trapped within the pages of a book.

I think we might be twins. We are very similar. Very bookish, smart, and not afraid to show off our knowledge, even if others may get exasperated with us. It’s a hard life, but a rewarding one. We don’t know everything, but when it comes to the subjects we know and love, we are walking encyclopedias. We’re very apprehensive about things that can’t be learned from books. I’m not very sportsy either, although I might take a crack at Quidditch because I’ve always wanted to fly.

You’re also fiercely loyal, and that’s a quality I admire and try to have myself. We value our friends. You’ve never been petty, always reasonable, even if it may not always be the best thing to do, but at least you can be counted on for that.

You’ve overcome so many issues- being Muggle-born, being a bit of a know-it-all, being judged and degraded for being a girl, being attacked on several occasions both physically and verbally, and you’ve overcome all those situations. That’s no small feat. I won’t forget that when you and your friends were being teased mercilessly, you were the only one who was able to ignore it and hold your head high. Such bravery.

I feel that we would be great friends in real life. You need some positive female companionship. I like to hang around guys too, but everyone needs a best friend of the same gender. At least you weren’t exposed to much gossip, or at least not the really catty kind that teenage girls partake in.

I only hope that my story has as happy an ending as yours.

Hermione is my bookish bestie. Who's yours? Click To Tweet

Who would you write to? Who inspires you? Bonus points if you choose a character/author/ship/book/other, write a post, and link it below in the comments. (: Or you can just write it in the comments!

I love Hermione! She is definitely a great role model for teenagers, with her perseverance, loyalty, and courage. I was going to write a letter to her too but I figured she’d be popular this week XD

I have rather a lot of bookish besties, but Hermione is definitely one of them!! I think if I went to Hogwarts I would try to push my way into hanging out with that trio, because Hermione needs a gal pal, right?!

Aww…this post is so sweet and heartfelt! ♥ Hermione is such a relatable and a well-written character – it’s so wonder why she’s so loved by readers. And whenever you see yourself in a character it makes it makes the book so much more enjoyable and worthwhile. Thanks for sharing and, as always, fabulous post! xx

Why do I love this so much?? I was also going to write to Hermione, but I decided to write for Meggie Folchart from Inkheart instead :) The #1 thing I love about Hermione was the one thing you said — how she was still brave despite the judgment around her based solely on the fact that she was a girl. Remember that part when she punched Draco in the face? I ADMIRE HER FOR THAT <3 Hahaha. Great post Ali!

I’ve only been reading the HP series basically this year but afjdkalsd HERMIONE IS EVERYTHING. She is definitely, hands down, my favourite character, and I love how smart and capable she is!! And such a nerd. XD I love how she’s addicted to the too. :’)
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!

What a lovely letter! Hermione is one of the best written characters ever, and as you said, she is absolutely a Gryffindor in her bravery. Plus, Harry and Ron would never survive all of those challenges without her! Great post :)

I wrote a letter to a character too but I’m not sure where to link it. The widgets aren’t working with me for some reason.
So anyway, here’s the link:

P.S. I love this feature!
