Always be polite to dragons!
That's what Daystar's mother taught him...and it's a very wise lesson--one that might just help him after his mom hands him a magic sword and kicks him out of the house. Especially because his house sits on the edge of the Enchanted Forest and his mother is Queen Cimorene.
But the tricky part is figuring out what he's supposed to do with the magic sword. Where is he supposed to go? And why does everyone he meets seem to know who he is?
It's going to take a particularly hotheaded fire-witch, a very verbose lizard, and a badly behaved baby dragon to help him figure it all out.
And those good manners certainly won't hurt!
Okay, I guess this was about as good an ending as I could have expected. It was better than the previous one, even if not quite as good as the first two. Interestingly, it was the only one written in first person, which does add to the idea that this is the main book and the others are really just prequels. Hmm.
I liked Daystar, though his politeness verged on boring. He was just as proper about etiquette as the princesses and knights were, even if they were sticklers to the point of frustration. I did not really like Shiara. Someone who hates being polite that much…Man, I wouldn’t be able to put up with her. It just wasn’t reasonable.
I liked the plot a bit better. It was so sad though that Cimorene and Mendanbar had to be apart for 17 years. So depressing. That’s a long time, especially since they were only properly married for one year! Mendanbar missed his son’s entire childhood! Now they’re old! (But not as old as Morwen, which is even more depressing.) Anyway, Daystar’s adventures were fun. I like the Enchanted Forest. It was more fun in this book than the previous one. Met a lot more fun people. I like Suz the lizard very much.
In any case, while the characters were meh, the plot was good and it was still a page-turner. It was a good albeit not fantastic conclusion to the series.

Well, I guess that’s all right then.
