Hello everyone! I apologize for my prolonged absence. I haven’t been doing much reading lately, but tons of crafting! (Check out my Instagram if you’re curious: @firefox9799) However, I am getting back into reading, starting with Cloud Atlas. The movie was one of my favorites, and reading the book helps make more sense of it.
I had tons of plans for new features this year, but unfortunately most of them did not work out! When I have more time (I know, everyone always says that) I may be able to revive some of them. I do have ideas for new types of reviews in the future, though, and as they are mostly already written you will certainly be seeing them soon. I was considering doing movie reviews, since I watch movies obsessively and rate them on IMDb, but I find at the end of the day that I just don’t have enough to say about movies. However I love most of the ones I watch. We saw La La Land yesterday and that one was really amazing. Great music, and it was quite different from the type of movies you see in theaters these days. We don’t have many modern musicals, and to me that one will become a classic.
Well, it’s Christmas! How exciting. We usually go up to my grandma’s house, but she is visiting our cousins in California this year so we are going to my aunt’s house instead. Thankfully she lives pretty close. My mum and I are making corn pudding and my special Brussels sprouts recipe (they’re delicious, I promise you). I watched The Polar Express last night, one of my absolute favorite movies (Christmas or otherwise) and today I’ll probably watch the two Grinch movies. (Both great.) We saw Elf the other day and that is also a lovely classic. Can’t forget about Miracle on 34th Street either; I actually saw that for the first time earlier this year. I’m not expecting many books this year, but if I get enough I will do a haul, as per tradition.
I haven’t been reviewing much, but I hope to become more active on the blog in the new year. It seems that the first half of the year I always power through tons of books, like around 60, and then I stop reading altogether and start, I dunno, crafting and such. Because of that I did not manage to reach my goal of 120 books and only managed…72, I think? But that’s still a good number. I shall try harder next year! I’m taking many more English classes so that will encourage me.
Tell me what you’re doing today, if you celebrate! Tell me your favorite part of the holiday season, and share which are the best gifts you gave/received!
p. s. Here’s a super cute mini Christmas tree I made for my dorm room! It needed some festivity. I’m home now, but it was a really fun way to brighten up the tiny room. My roommate Anna brought in some larger strings of Christmas lights as well. (I’m not gonna lie, it was eerily like Stranger Things up in there.) Anyway, the actual base of this tree I made with lots of cardstock, and the star on top too. Then I added some store-bought decorations and mini presents, and mum provided the string of lights. Perfect!
Yes, I did edit the background because the old one wasn’t very pretty. Sorry for how sloppy it looks in the second picture. (:
