Main points This book was REALLY good. Oh man, I have so much to say. I hope I remember it all. Okay, the story was excellent. It wasn’t entirely without plot holes (some of which I could fill in myself using logic, but not all) but it was mostly just really cool. Some of the smaller details really added to the story. In fact, I think all of them did. The fact that the Jessas shared memories when they Traveled, some things that Danny said that were strangely poignant or important, the subtle differences between […]

Main points This book was super good. I’d say it didn’t suffer from Second Book Syndrome at all. To be fair, I didn’t remember too much of the first one, but bits and pieces came back to me as I read this one. I had forgotten just how character-driven it was. Seriously, the dynamic between them was almost more intriguing than the plot. It was just all over the place. Trust was mixed with distrust so frequently, and even when people made up it didn’t feel genuine. A lot of the “steamy scenes” didn’t feel […]

Main points This was REALLY good. Not super unique as a story, but I was in the mood for it. Definitely difficult to stop reading. Hilarious at times. Very steamy. Emotional. I mean, it had everything. I also liked how things didn’t always wrap up nicely or go the way you thought they would. Life isn’t perfect. Things fall apart. Sometimes you’re just setting out on an adventure to see what you can do about it. This book reflects that. I liked Payton. She did not stand for bullshit. She knew when to say no […]

Main points This was really good. It was definitely a page-turner. The suspense-mystery part worked really well. There were a lot of clues and hints and things that didn’t quite match up. I was able to guess a few things that I was surprised the characters didn’t, but I guess that would have made it too easy if they had… I’ll start with what I wasn’t so enthusiastic about. At times, more towards the beginning though, there were moments where we focused too much on one character and really know much about what was happening […]

Excerpt (P. 12, Kyle’s POV) When I get outside, Gideon’s leaning on my car, checking his watch like it holds the secrets of the universe. I’m about to apologize when he starts talking. “Do you like pep rallies?” he asks. “I can’t stand them,” I tell him honestly, shuddering a little at the very thought. “Awesome,” he says, climbing into the passenger side. “You have lipstick on your forehead.” “Damn it,” Gideon says, pulling down the visor and checking himself in the mirror. “Should be a napkin in the glove compartment,” I say. He roots […]

Main points This was one heck of a book. I don’t think my stomach ever stopped turning. It’s as brutal as it sounds, and in fact worse, but not as bad as it could have been. It’s the most evil and sinful sort of society but I think Green is a bit lenient with it. (Well, as in serious injury and death count.) In any case, it’s not for the faint of heart. It’s creatively gory, pretty much throughout. I did like all the secrets, lies, and manipulations. You never knew whether something would turn […]

Main points This book was so super good! It had a fantastic plot and great characters. A really nice mix. The romance—what little of it there was (so far)—was also done well. I liked Trinity a lot. It’s not often that I read about girls who are very hot-headed and have quick tempers. And disobey rules. It’s refreshing. It’s also pretty neat to watch someone turn into a cat—basically. I’ve always considered myself part-cat, so it’s fun to see it for real. Man, I do love cats though. And it was pretty clear that some […]

Main points This book was good. I really liked the plot. The characters were frustrating at times, but the story was pretty good. It made sense. It was believable. Even the character’s actions were believable (if annoying). It was unpredictable at times. It was pretty intriguing and a page-turner. The writing was good enough. Some editing issues. It was third person omniscient so occasionally you had to think a minute about who was thinking what but it wasn’t too distracting. I kinda liked the POVs. When there’s any kind of romance, I prefer knowing what […]

Main points This book was very, very good! The storyline is definitely not unique, but this is a very good telling. I really liked the writing. It stood out among many of the ARCs I receive. It had an emotional quality to it. There were memories and sweet, meaningful moments in all the right places. There were moments that seemed normal or even strange but were actually very emotional and poignant. I just love that. It’s like, you don’t need words to explain the feeling. You see the actions and you just know what’s going […]

Main points I liked this book! But there are a couple things that must be said. First of all, there is a LOT the synopsis doesn’t tell you. I went into it because I hadn’t read a book about larger-than-average women before and I needed diversity. I got a whole lot MORE than that. Second, there are a lot of, shall we say, interesting things that occur in this book. It’s definitely bordering on erotica, let’s get that out of the way right now. It’s kinky. Strange stuff goes down. There’s a bit of unexpected […]
